You have to understand that it was never James Dean Bradfield's intention to make a solo record (The Release Date Of “The Great Western”: 24. July 2006 on Columbia Records). It's just that, 15 years on from breaking his first promise as a rockstar (the MANIC STREET PREACHERS' bloody-minded early declaration to split up after one million selling album), he, Nicky Wire and Sean Moore decided to finally keep a promise; the one made that April night at Hammersmith Apollo when, at the end of a tour that reinstated their position as the past decades definitive UK rock band, he declared 'you wont see us for two years.

This breathtaking performance displays why BAD BRAINS became one of the most important bands in the history of American Hardcore. On Christmas Eve 1982, Bad Brains began their three-day stint at a Hardcore Festival hosted by legendary CBGB. The DVD “Live CBGB 1982” represents the very best of these shows, culled from over 4 hours of footage. Their live performances were legendary, their visual recordings were impossible to find. Now, for the first time on DVD, that powerful performance is revisited in extraordinary fashion. US-Release Date: 19. September 2006 on MVD

It is 30 years ago next month that the BUZZCOCKS made their debut, supporting the Sex Pistols at a gig in Manchester, and last week they were honoured at the “Mojo”-Awards for surviving, thriving, and influencing acts from fuckin´ Nirvana to Green Day and fuckin´ Ash. The band, topped a shortlist which included the late Johnny Cash, fuckin´ Paul Weller and the Fall, to take the Inspiration award in a ceremony at Shoreditch Town Hall, east London. Pete Shelley said he was shocked to receive the award, 30 years after creating the band: “You always have to fight back the idea that 'it's about time' as being a response, because for the people that voted for us the time is right now. There was nothing false about what we were doing back then, what motivates us even now is still to keep it fresh and new.”
Phil Alexander, Mojo´s editor-in-chief, said: "They are one of those bands that over a period of time have been consistently overlooked. Thirty years after their first EP “Spiral Scratch” they are still doing what they do with gusto and enthusiasm. This is well-deserved.”
