Mick Jones of THE CLASH opens his own 'rock & roll library'. On the opening night guest were: Glen Matlock, Paul Simonon, Tony James, and Steve New.
Jones has been collecting music and culture paraphernalia for most of his 53 years. The collection includes books, magazines, videos, stage clothes, instruments, flight cases, records, amplifiers and recording gear, posters, original song lyrics and much more.
Jones says: "Since the millennium I've been on a mission. The world didn't end so I thought it was time to share the collection with others. On one level it's a way of finding out if all this stuff from the 20th century means anything in the new century.
"It means something to me. A lot of my life is tied up in this. But does it mean anything to others?"
The collection includes a gold disc for the debut Clash's debut album.
Jones says: "There's a funny story connected to this. I didn't know you could play a gold disc, but we put it on and it was an album by Abba.
"They [the record company] just sprayed it gold, put a label on it, and recycled it."

Asheton, 60, reportedly died from a heart attack on 6 January (09) - just months after reconciling with Pop for a Stooges comeback.

So impressed were they by Siouxsie and the Banshees, that legend has it that John Peel and his producer John Walters attempted to get the BBC to sign the Banshees before the group signed to Polydor. Fitting then that this stunning 84-track, all digitally-remastered, 4-disc hardback book set comprises exclusive BBC sessions, live concert tracks and TV performances recorded by Siouxsie and the Banshees between 1977 and 2001. It comprises 3 audio discs plus a real gem in the form of a 29-track DVD of the band’s best TV performances. All of the featured tracks have been hand picked by the band and the package includes a fantastic 30-page booklet with extensive sleeve notes by journalist Paul Morley, interviews with all of the band members and a unique and insightful introduction written by Siouxsie.
The set features alternative versions of 18 classic hit singles including Hong Kong Garden, Playground Twist, Happy House, Cities In Dust, Christine, Wheels On Fire, Dear Prudence, Peek-a-Boo and Kiss Them For Me.
Discs 1 and 2
These feature key session tracks from 1977 to 1987 and a concert recording from the Apollo Theatre in Oxford in 1985. They include the complete John Peel sessions alongside sessions recorded for Kid Jensen, Richard Skinner and Janice Long.
Disc 3
This contains highlights from the band’s BBC concert recordings at the Apollo Theatre in Oxford and the Royal Albert Hall, London in 1988, where the band performed a storming set, three nights in a row to a sell-out crowd. Highlights include a breathtaking Last Beat Of My Heart, Christine and a rip-roaring, crowd-pleasing, end of show version of Hong Kong Garden.
Disc 4
This 29-track DVD of the band’s BBC TV performances features their complete Old Grey Whistle test broadcasts from 1978, 1982 and 1985, the Something Else performances from 1979 and 1980, the Rock Goes To College broadcast from 1981 and the band’s complete Top of the Pops performances, complete, in places, with cheesy intros! All in all it serves as a fantastic visual documentary of the band, beginning with the OGWT performances of tracks from their 1978 debut album; Metal Postcard and Jigsaw Feeling through the dark years of Juju, performed for the Rock Goes to College show and culminating with the beautifully pure pop bliss of Kiss Them For Me from Superstition.

The long-awaited GREEN DAY documentary, “Heart Like a Hand Grenade”, was set to premiere in Los Angeles on March 25th. Directed by John Roecker, who previously collaborated with the band on Live Freaky! Die Freaky! and The Network, the film documents the recording process of 2004's American Idiot.

Dakota Fanning is negotiating to play lead singer Cheri Currie in "THE RUNAWAYS," the biopic of the '70s all-girl band that already has "Twilight" star Kristen Stewart playing Joan Jett. Scripted and directed by Floria Sigismondi, the film begins production in late spring.
At 15, Fanning is the same age Currie was when she made her debut with the Runaways as the lead singer who belted out hard-edged tunes like "Cherry Bomb." Currie became caught up in drugs and a hard-partying lifestyle.

HENRY ROLLINS has a new radio programme on Los Angeles public radio station KCRW on Saturday.
He will host the Saturday-night show from 6:00 to 8:00pm. In addition to being broadcast in Los Angeles at 89.9FM, the show will also air on the internet at KCRW.com.
Rollins said that he intends to play "a great mix of all kinds from all over from all time." The former Black Flag frontman, who used to host a show on the now defunct LA radio station Indie 103.1, added, "I was one of the refugees from Indie 103. I was there for four years. I have a record collection I'm very happy to unleash. Being on the radio keeps me going to the record stores and going online and seeing what people are doing and I realize it's only just begun."
Meanwhile, Rollins recently finished filming a series of documentaries for IFC, and is heading up his own publishing company, which releases books, CDs and DVDs.

Also four new records out on Full Breach Kicks:
Brooklyn’s Ex Humans are gonna rip it up! This is brand new, down and dirty, NYC punk rock. The Ex Humans are Josh Martin, Todd Martin, and Jesse Martinez. They come from other killer bands: Carbonas, Beat Beat Beat, and The Star Spangles. The Ex Humans play fast and their songs are undeniably raw and catchy.
This is the band’s first 7” single, and it features two songs you can drunkenly smash up your apartment to. The A-side brings us “Chicane”, a song about broken hearts and resentment. The B-side is “Detector”, a song about – you guessed it – broken hearts and resentment.
First 100 on white vinyl are available online from the Full Breach Kicks website.
Plexi 3 are a Milwaukee three-piece that have been doing the rounds over the last couple years, playing their signature brand of infectious power pop with trade-off male and female vocals. With two out-of-print vinyl singles under their belts, Wendy Norton on vocals and guitar, Adam Widener on vocals and bass, and Ryan King on drums, brings back the girl group pop sound of the ‘60s mixed with Midwest punk attitude.
On the A-side of their third single, the trio brings us “Timebox”, a catchy pop take on screwed up humanity. The B-side brings us “What Love Is For”, a fiery power pop jam about – you guessed it – a girl. Don’t miss out on Plexi 3, the true Midwest power pop sound!
First 100 on clear vinyl are available online from the Full Breach Kicks website.
Hailing from Atlanta, the Poison Arrows are no strangers to the punk rock world. Featuring former members of The Heart Attacks, this new band plays furious power pop punk with glam roots that is catchy and anthemic as all hell and raging with attitude. Power pop with attitude? Definitely. These aren’t crying-in-your-beer-over-a-girl love songs. This is the band Tuk, Portwood, Josh, and Joey were meant to play in.
The A-side “Sticky Situations”, about the trouble we all love to somehow get into, will be that foot-tapping, hot jam stuck in your head and stuck on your turntable. The B-side brings us “Shakin’ All Over” and “Wild Hearts Beat Free”, both songs about rockin’ and rollin’ and livin’ your life how you want. You’ll be hearing a lot more from the Poison Arrows this coming year. Get some!
First 100 on gold vinyl are available online from the Full Breach Kicks website.
Out of all the rock ‘n’ roll sleaze bands in Hollywood during the 1980s, The Joneses are recognized as coming first and being the toughest and most honest of them all. This no-nonsense group of trash rockers, led by the charismatic Jeff Drake, were a hot-blooded mix of the New York Dolls, Johnny Thunders, and Eddie Cochran, too glam for punk and too punk for rock. If the term “trashy rock ‘n’ roll” could only apply to one band, The Joneses would take the label in spades.
Their music was raw and powerful, their style a mix of their predecessors. They lived the sleazy rock ‘n’ roll life like they invented it, with clever songs about their tales of pills, booze, chicks, and decadence. The Joneses brought their own definition of cool to the table, youthful yet timeless, fierce yet endearing, and drugged up and drunk the whole time. Their music was pure punk fueled rock ‘n’ roll aggression, sung with ‘50s style melody but coming hard with ‘80s Los Angeles aggression.
Unfortunately, The Joneses had all the right parts but were not recognized for being the unique forbearers they were. To say these rockers were cool wouldn’t be saying enough. They were the symbol of cool on the Hollywood strip, and they were what rock ‘n’ roll was and is really about. No posturing or false chic – they were the real deal, the real sleaze with the real sound of the street.
This collection has been re-mastered and includes The Joneses best songs, rare and unreleased songs only found on this release, many unseen pictures, and detailed liner notes. The vinyl double LP comes with an exclusive digital download of the entire collection.

Two of the most requested and sort after albums have been given the Captain Oi treatment.
Cock Sparrers 2 LP's that were recorded for German Label Bitzcore in the 1990's have been re-issued.
However, these releases go beyond the normal 're-issue' standards as they have been REMIXED so are essentially brand new albums!
GUILTY AS CHARGED 2009 was the bands comeback album. Originally released in 1994, thisversion comes with the ultra rare RUNAWAY EP as bonus tracks.
TWO MONKEYS 2009 was originally released in 1997. Again, remixed and remastered it so it sounds great! With previously unreleased live tracks as a bonus.
Both CDs have brand new artwork, lyrics and unseen pictures. They have also been remastered by Tim Turan. The original CDs suffered from bad productions so even if you've have got the originals, you've just got to hear these versions to appreciate the songs.
