Last weekend was a very sad one for the punk rock music!
But the good memories and the great music will live on.

Paul Fox, Guitarist with THE RUTS died at home in Uxbridge at 3AM on Sunday 21st October 2007.
Following his diagnosis with cancer at the end of May 2007 a benefit gig was organised featuring many of the musicians that Paul had worked with or alongside over the years. There was no doubt about the high esteem in which Paul was held by his fellow musicians as the line up read like a who’s who of the UK punk scene with performances by The Damned, Misty in Roots, the UK Subs, Tom Robinson, John Otway, Splodge, TV Smith and many more.
For the first time in 27 years the surviving members of the Ruts took to the stage together with Henry Rollins standing in for the late Malcolm Owen who died of a drugs overdose in 1980.
The night was a fitting tribute to one of our much under rated and unsung guitar heros.
Paul leaves behind his sons Lawrence and William and his wife, Sharon.

Paul Raven (Ex-NEON HEARTS) and later the bassist with KILLING JOKE passed away at his home on Saturday, 20. October 2007 of a suspected Heart Attack. He was 46 years of age.

LANCE HAHN, longstanding member of the punk community and leader of Austin, Texas-based punks J Church, died Sunday (October 21) due to complications from his lengthy battle with kidney disease. In addition to his work in J Church, Hahn (a native Hawaiian) played with Hawaii-based punks Cringer for most of the 1980s, and even moonlighted on guitar with Beck in 1994. Hahn, in addition to his strictly musical pursuits, owned and ran Honey Bear Records, was a frequent contributor to the venerated Maximum Rock'n'Roll magazine, published the Some Hope and Some Despair zine, and was working on a book on anarchist punk history at the time of his death. He was 40.

The film was specially commisioned by demonVISION and directed by Alan Parker, the acclaimed Pistols biographer. The film charts the rise of the band, from their early days at Malcolm’s shop ‘Sex’ to their first gigs, and subsequent record deals, the arrival of Sid Vicious, and ultimately the demise of the band. Including exclusive new footage of Malcolm McLaren revealing for the first time that he never wanted to make the album in the first place!
The story is told through interviews with Glen Matlock, Malcolm McLaren, Steve Diggle, John ‘Boogie’ Tiberi, Alan Jones, Steve ‘Roadent’ Connolly, George X and Mick O’Shea, who lived through the good times and the bad, with archive photos of the band throughout their career.
The film also has scenes from the bands career re-created by the premier Pistols cover band The Sex Pistols Experience.

Two other CD-releases for this month are THE DICKIES “Idjit Savant”/”Dogs From The Hare That Bit Us”, which will gather up all of the bands recordings for the “Triple X Label”, the first the bands studio album from 1994 and the second a covers set from three years later.
Also due will be a special digi-pak version of THE LAST RESORT “A Way Of Life – Skinhead Anthems”, which will have pretty much every track ever recorded by the band in their heyday – the “Violence In Our Minds” cassette single, compilation tracks from the second and third “Oi!”-Sampler, plus rare demos all added to the original LP’s track listing.

Monday 15th October 2007 sees the UK release of “Dig Yourself Deep” (on Cooking Vinyl), the new album from THE UNDERTONES.
Following on from their 2003 album, “Get What You Need”, “Dig Yourself Deep” is filled with riff-heavy pop-punk gems, and packs 14 songs into just under 33 minutes. From the infectious hooks of the title track, to the raucous “So Close” and the taut and feisty “She’s So Sweet”, the album rolls back the years, whilst moving forward to the present.
“The Undertones have never had a career plan – but around the start of 2006, it occurred to us that maybe it would be good to make another record,” explains Bassist Michael Bradley. “Somebody mentioned that we should immediately start writing more songs and record a follow up within a year, but we never got around to it. If you rush these things, sometimes you can regret what gets recorded … Over the year John wrote most of the songs that appear on the record, while I came up with four and also added words to Damian’s We All Talked About You. When we went into Blast Furnace Studio in Derry we knew that we wanted it to be more guitar based than "Get What You Need" and that the songs would be concise.”

Okay, this time only some old news from the last few weeks, but still very important! New NEWS coming next week!

CBGB rock club owner Hilly Kristal, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007, at the age of 75. Kristal, whose dank Bowery rock club served as the birthplace of the punk rock movement and a launching pad for bands like the Ramones, Blondie and the Talking Heads, died after a battle with lung cancer, his son said.
At the club's boarded-up storefront Wednesday morning, a spray-painted message read, "RIP Hilly, we'll miss you, thank you." There were also a dozen candles, two bunches of flowers and a foam rubber baseball bat -- an apparent tribute to the Ramones' classic "Beat on the Brat."

The DVDs will feature four hours of rare and previously unreleased performances. The disc was supervised by original drummer Tommy Ramone and the sets are arrange chronologically and features more than 100 songs. The DVD also includes previously unreleased footage filmed on New Year’s Eve in 1977 during the band’s incendiary performance at The Rainbow Theatre in London. The entire concert was released in 1979 as the It’s Alive album, considered one of the best live records ever. The DVD features 14 songs in 5.1 Surround Sound taken from the show including “Pinhead,” “We’re A Happy Family,” and “Havana Affair.” Nine performances recorded in 1982 at the US Festival in San Bernardino, CA are also featured here in 5.1 Surround Sound.

THE SEX PISTOLS come together again to play five sold out shows at the Brixton “Academy” in November and one special show in Manchester, also sold out, at the “Men Arena”. They are starting this little reunion one in Hollywood at the “Roxy” in October. What about a new song, John?

Bassist Karl Alvarez recently suffered a heart attack. Alvarez plays for All, The Descendents and The Lemonheads. While he is recovering, mounting medical bills are causing problems and some of his friends have set up a fund to help raise some money to offset some of those costs.

“Cider City Records” have updated their release schedule for TSOL's posthumous live album Live From Long Beach. The album is out now since September 10th and featurs material recorded over the weekend of their 'farewell shows' in Southern California. A live video of their last show has already surfaced and this
Although the band announced their breakup last November, their status changed to hiatus this May. The band had fallen on difficult times in recent years due to a shooting that occurred while they were on stage in Hollywood in 2002. While T.S.O.L. was cleared in the court case they were left with a daunting bill from the attorney that prevented them from widespread touring. That period also resulted in the band's latest album Divided We Stand.
